Who are you?
My name is Mohammad, aka Moha and I'm a lead game designer at Fingersoft.
How did you end up at Fingersoft?
I always followed the Finnish game industry and wanted to be a part of it. I participated in an online job fair, where Fingersoft was also taking part, and I saw an interesting job posted there. I knew their games and played them a lot, so I didn't hesitate to apply. I was lucky to get an offer and joined Fingersoft.
Tell us about your job at Fingersoft!
I am a game designer, so I'm mainly responsible for maintaining a clear vision for the game. I design different features, balance the economy, design content and basically take care of players' engagement and the game's monetization. I also have to make sure that everybody in the team knows how we are doing things and understands why we are doing things the way we are doing them.
What’s the best thing about working at Fingersoft?
The people! People are super friendly but also professional, so for me it is a joy to come to the office every day. At Fingersoft, the teams truly own the projects, and they can decide what to create and how to create it. For me, this is the best thing: Taking the responsibility to create something I believe in and enjoy creating it while being surrounded by humble, humorous, and friendly professionals!
What’s your best memory of Hill Climb Racing?
I remember one day, when Hill Climb Racing was just recently released and everybody in my previous company was playing it, and there was already a competition between us! I even found a photo of that very first version of Hill Climb Racing on my Instagram and since then, it became one of my favorite F2P games.
Almost eight years later, I applied to Fingersoft not knowing what project I was going to work on. After I got the offer, our producer John told me that I was going to start working on a new project with the Hill Climb Racing IP from scratch. Words can't describe how excited I was hearing that!
Any thoughts about living in Finland and in Oulu?
It’s like turning a threat into an opportunity on a daily basis :) I mean, yes it is freezing cold, but then it also means you should go to sauna everyday and have a lot of fun chatting and socializing! Nights are dark and long for a while, but then, you can party harder during the night.
Jokes aside, I am really enjoying my time in Oulu! There are a lot of outdoor activities to do and nature is amazing! The company also regularly organizes cool events like skiing and weekend trips to make sure we are having a great time! I've also found people super nice and respectful, and it didn't take long for my wife and I to start feeling like home.
Finland has one of the best mobile game industries in the world with many renowned companies. It’s an unlimited opportunity to learn and grow, given how everybody is humble and willing to share within the gaming community!
